Position Title: Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor Organization: Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico (LTPR) Department: Production FLSA Classification: Exempt EEOC Job Category: (2) Professional Revision Date: February 12, 2024 Position’s Connections Position of the direct supervisor Bay Manager/Shop Manager Positions of the direct subordinates Aircraft Maintenance Staff Description of the Position Responsible for performing and supervising employees that perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alterations.
The Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor is responsible to lead the team to work efficient and safely on the aircraft and to ensure quality and safety standard are met.
Monitors efficiency, project progress and project costs.
Ensures / drive adherence to 5S, Compliance Culture in his/her designated area (FAA 14 CFR maintenance regulations and requirements, company policies, rule, and process).
Provides technical solutions and ensures progress is being made in line with the aircraft project plans and commercial targets.
Essential Responsibilities Lead operationally and disciplinary assigned staff and ensure progress is made on the aircraft in line with the project plan and given targets.
Supervise all aspects of the project and staff performing aircraft maintenance, ensuring all work is scheduled and performed with quality in a productive, safe, and efficient manner.
Use the (PPM) performance dialogue system to guide team’s behavior to ensure targets set for their workstation and team are achieved and / or exceeded in a timely manner.
Monitor milestone adherence, job cards status and project progress in his/her designated area and initiate corrective action if needed.
Have an in-depth knowledge of the materials status needed for their workstation and ensure all materials are ordered accurately on time and in the correct quantities.
Have a thorough understanding of the material delivery process, and ability to flag and escalate any discrepancies related to critical items not delivered.
Actively steering resource consumption (MH, Materials, Subcontract, other) in his/her designated area.
Establish and achieve efficiency improvements through sustained processes in production systems and procedures.
Think and act as part of the LHT group with commercial thinking into actions, taking calculated risks and balancing costs and benefits.
Support the Bay or Shop Manager in providing correct estimates for the CAS process.
Hire, discipline, transfer, promote, terminate, provide counseling, recognize, or any other personnel action, to employees assigned.
Thoroughly familiar with the applicable regulations and proficient in the use of the various inspection methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools appropriate for the work being performed and approved for return to service (See, 14 CFR § 145.
157).
Thoroughly familiar with the applicable regulations, RSQCM manual, Repair Station Training Program, and the IQ MOVE processes used by LTPR for ensuring work is performed properly.
Thoroughly familiar with the methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools used to perform the assigned maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alteration tasks (See, 14 CFR §§ 145.
153(a), (b)).
Assisting, supervising, and directing aircraft maintenance personnel of his/her line in the performance of their duties so that work is accomplished on schedule and in accordance with applicable 14 CFR requirements and Repair Station Procedures.
Oversee the work performed by any individuals unfamiliar with the methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools used to perform that work.
Ensure training (e.
g.
, On-the-Job Training) of aircraft maintenance personnel in his/her bay in the proper work practices and procedures, including observation of safety precautions during the performance of their duties.
Assure that aircraft maintenance personnel in his/her bay are properly trained and practice proper handling of parts during the accomplishment of maintenance to maintain adequate preservation of parts during the maintenance process.
Establishing procedures to determine the need for original and recurrent training for all personnel under his/her supervision consistent with the work to be performed.
Assuring that each technician in his/her line has received training in the hazard communication standard, and the handling of chemical waste if appropriate to the employee’s job function.
Assure that the maintenance and repair of all articles and components is properly accomplished within the authority of the repair station.
Assisting, supervising, and directing workstation personnel (maintenance technicians) in the performance of their duties so that work is accomplished on schedule and in accordance with applicable 14 CFR requirements and Repair Station Procedures.
Ensure that the work is performed in accordance with the applicable technical data.
Review technical data to be used and present it to the Bay Manager or the Workshop Manager for review and acceptance if there is any doubt about its applicability or acceptability, before beginning work.
Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance and alterations while adhering to accepted maintenance/alteration performance standards as referenced in § 43.

Assure that workstation personnel record the work performed on Job Cards and supplementary forms as required.
Ensure the appropriate maintenance entries on maintenance forms and Job Cards at his/her workstation(s) are properly executed daily by the responsible technicians.
Ensure that special instructions from air carrier customers are included in the maintenance data issued to technicians and inspectors, as applicable.
Ensure that proper entries are made into maintenance logs and work orders IAW 14 CFR part 43 and Operator/Air Carrier manuals (if applicable).
Determine that all test equipment or tools used to make airworthiness determinations are labeled and current in accordance with the RSQCM manual before use.
Establishing standards to assure that adequate safety precautions are observed.
Work with Department Managers on production issues, including quality, facilities, equipment, and processes.
Making available to the personnel under his authority, the required technical data on all aircraft and equipment for the maintenance accomplished.
Assuring the appropriate maintenance entries on maintenance forms and Job Cards used are properly executed accurately and timely by the responsible technicians.
This includes ensuring that proper entries are made into maintenance logs and work orders (if applicable) IAW 14 CFR part 43 and Operator/Air Carrier manuals.
Assuring in his area of supervision that the maintenance, repair, of power plant, components and parts is properly accomplished within the authority of the repair station.
Enact policies and procedures as directed by the Bay Manager and in accordance with the RSQCM.
Review technical data to be used and present it to the Bay Manager for review and acceptance if there is any doubt about its applicability or acceptability, before beginning work.
Determine that all test equipment or tools used to make airworthiness determinations are labeled and current in accordance with this manual before use.

Comply and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, local and federal regulations.

Perform/work on the aircraft about 60% of his/her working time.

Education, Skills, and Competencies High School Diploma and Diploma as Aircraft Mechanic (preferred) Hold Level 2 approval for at least 2 years (or equivalent) A&P license (desired) or repairman certificate for the discipline to be supervising (Required) or equivalent.
Additional approvals may be required, not limited to: Extension for License Staff: Engine run and/or Borescope and/or RII Inspector Extension for Unlicensed Staff: In house fabrication (IHF) and/or Oxygen charging and/or Heat treatment and/or Cadmium plating Minimum of three (3) years of applicable aircraft heavy maintenance experience required.
Excellent technical knowledge of aircrafts, with high levels of exposure to base maintenance.
Minimum of three (3) years of applicable aircraft heavy maintenance experience required.
Excellent knowledge of aircraft documentation, legislation, and ability to interpret other technical work orders.
Experience in leading teams required.
Experience in Airbus (or equivalent).
Schedule flexibility, to support team during the weekend or holidays, when needed.
Strong negotiation skills to ensure required staff is present, when required.
Ability to lead and motivate teams and individuals.

Working conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
