JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Golf Pro assists in administering all daily operations including, but not limited to: facilitating sales, assisting with merchandise, operating POS system, managing handicap and tee sheet applications, acts as ranger, starter, guest relations, outside service or golf shop shifts.
Education & Experience: Associate’s degree (AA); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current PGA/LGPA Full Member or Associate Physical requirements: Regularly stands, walks and sits.
Occasionally climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, crawls or crouches.
Frequently uses hands; reaches with hands and arms.
Frequently talks or hears; tastes or smells.
Long hours sometimes required.
Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather).
Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions.
Noise level is moderate.
General Requirements: Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with computerized POS and tee time system.
Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
Maintain regular attendance in compliance with department standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing nametags.
Comply with hotel standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc.
from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
Perform other duties as requested by management.
Fundamental requirements: Assists in administering all point of sales application revisions and needs as it applies to green fee sales, merchandise sales, and member/guest billing.
Coordinates with Accounting Departments all policy and procedure revisions, updates, and implementation.
Reconciles daily tee sheets, performs check-in, and receives payments from members and guests.
Resolves discrepancies as it applies to duplicate charges and over or under payment.
Tracks all force posts and no show charges as applicable.
Promotes all club golf activities.
Assists in the creation of lesson plans and provides both individual and group instruction.
Maintains a clean, orderly, and well-stocked golf shop.
Assists retail buyer with procurement and merchandise and shop assistants with merchandising and sales.
Prepares for all golf outings including coordinating scorecards, cart labels, rules sheets, score sheets, format sheets, favors, pairing sheets and hole assignments.
Monitors all members’ scores, reports handicapping to USGA and bills members.
Follows established opening and closing procedures.
Assists with associate training.
Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
Meets with RMGA board quarterly to discuss membership questions and suggestions Maintains membership with the PGA and other professional associations.
Attends workshops and meetings to keep abreast of current information and developments.
Inspects courses regular ensuring that standards and upkeep are met.
Ensures that golf etiquette and rules are adhered to by all members and guests.
Provides timely and accurate reporting of all financial and non-financial information as directed, requested or required by management or representatives.
Ensures care and maintenance of all the facilities physical assets.
Assists with interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: Golf Services Supervisors, Maintenance Superintendent, Retail Store Supervisor and Membership/Tournament Sales Manger.
Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate.
Develops ongoing training programs.
