Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Guidance Counselor to join our team.
As a Guidance Counselor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of our students.
You will provide individual and group counseling, academic advising, and behavioral management to help students thrive in their educational journey.
Duties:
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address students' personal, social, and emotional needs
- Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop personalized academic plans for students
- Offer guidance on course selection, college applications, and career exploration
- Implement behavior management strategies to address disciplinary issues and promote positive behavior
- Assist students in developing effective study skills and time management techniques
- Provide support and resources for students with special needs or learning disabilities
- Collaborate with community organizations to provide additional support services for students
- Stay updated on current research and best practices in childhood development, social work, mental health counseling, and academic advising
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in counseling or related field
- Valid state certification or license as a Guidance Counselor
- Experience working with students in an educational setting
- Knowledge of childhood development theories and practices
- Familiarity with special education programs and services
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students of diverse backgrounds
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in counseling practices -Must be bilingual -Must be FLDOE certified
