Job Description:
The preschool teacher assistant is a member of the preschool education team who works in collaboration with the lead preschool teacher to provide a safe, enriching, and stimulating learning environment for preschool-age children.
Their primary responsibility is to assist in the implementation of the curriculum, care for the children, and promote their academic, social, and emotional development.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Teaching Support: Assist the preschool teacher in planning and executing teaching activities, including lessons, group activities, and class projects.
• Child Care: Supervise children during class hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Assist with basic needs, such as feeding, diaper changes, and breaks.
• Individual Support: Provide individualized support to children who may need additional assistance in areas such as language development, motor skills, or emotional management.
• Interaction with Parents: Communicate with the parents or guardians of the children to provide updates on the children's progress, respond to questions and concerns, and participate in parent conferences.
• Maintaining Order: Help maintain order and discipline in the classroom, ensuring that children follow established rules and guidelines.
• Material Preparation Assistance: Assist in the preparation of teaching materials and visual resources for lessons and activities.
• Observation and Record-Keeping: Observe children's behavior and progress and maintain accurate records for the preschool teacher.
Requirements and Qualifications:
• Associate's degree in Preschool Education or CDA (Child Development Associate).
• Previous experience in childcare or preschool education is preferred.
• Knowledge of the needs and developmental stages of preschool-age children.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Patience, affection, and a positive attitude towards children.
• Compliance with background check and reference verification requirements.
